Maison Morand

Pélardon cheese originates from the Languedoc in France. The name of this cheese derives from a word from the Cévenol dialect; "pébre" meaning "pepper" due to the light spicy flavour of the cheese. It is produced from alpine goats' milk, which can be easily recognized by their thick brown coats.

La petite histoire: The origins of the Pélardon cheese date back to the antiquity, where the naturalist, Pliny the Elder wrote about the "Péraldou" and indicated that the cheeses of the Languedoc were known around even the most prestigious  tables in Rome.

Our Pélardon is awarded AOP ("Appellation d’Origine Protégée", which means Protected Designation of Origin). The AOP mark is the highest distinction awarded by the European Union and confirms the excellence of a product, its artisanship and unimpeachable quality.
