Michelin guide Dubai: 11 restaurants awarded stars

The Michelin guide is finally here after a long wait following an exciting year (50 best & Gault & Millau) for the culinary community in Dubai. This latest accolade solidifies Dubai further as a capital of gastronomy, a destination for foodies worldwide to visit.

Taking place at the Opera, one of Dubai's many prestigious venues, 11 restaurants were awarded stars, and a total of 69 restaurants were recognised in the first-ever guide for Dubai (or the region).

While there were no 3-stars awarded, the majority present were exuberant to be part of this historic event.

The organization took the time to also recognize the mysterious and anonymous Michelin guide inspectors, who worked tirelessly in the last few months to visit all restaurants listed before passing on their verdicts. For those curious about the awarding process, the criteria are quite demanding: Quality of ingredients, Mastery of cooking (technique), Harmony of Flavours, Personality of the Chef, and of course Consistency over the period of time measured, the experience and all the items on the menu.
