A chashaku ('teascoop') is a traditional Japanese tea utensil for measuring out a recommended serving of matcha (2-4 grams depending on whether you're making Usucha or Koicha). A Chashaku can be carved from several materials, including beautiful and rare woods or even ivory but is most often made of bamboo. Chashaku are appreciated for their beauty as well as their function, and special ones are bestowed with poetic names ('gomei') to give it a seasonal identity.

Usage Instructions:  Each scoop of matcha should be rounded, and reaching just the point where the chashaku starts to bend.

Care Instructions: Wipe with a dry cloth after every use, do not wash as you might lose the delicate bend of the bamboo.
