About the Coffee
Farmers of Bait Alal consider coffee trees as a symbol of pride. The farmers believe that coffee trees originated from their land. Some of them have inherited ownership documents of lands and coffee trees that are dated a few hundred years back. The community is home to 300 farming families. The village is perched on a mountain top at an altitude of 2300m above sea level. The harsh climate might be one of the reasons for the low yield, but no matter how small the harvest is these farmers have never abandoned their coffee trees.
