Those of us who are fortunate find their passion early in life. This can be said of Chef karim, who became inflamed with pastry at the young age of 10, while giving a helping hand to his neighbor, a Lebanese baker in the South of Lebanon.
From there on, his decision was made. He was going to pursue a career in pastry and every effort he could spare went into watching food shows, reading cookbooks and training in the kitchen.
After graduating from the Faculty of Hospitality management in Beirut, he sets his eyes on Le cordon Bleu de Paris, where he acquires a much need technical grounding that he would continue to develop throughout his career.
His work resume is stellar, a showcase of the best pastry brands in the world: La Durée, Fauchon, la Maison du Chocolat, Café Hermes… La crème de la crème as they say.
Today, karim is based in Dubai, where manages his own consultancy, KB Gourmandises, co-owns 2 Kayu Bakeshops and a coffeeshop called Calla, and spends his time helping to form the next generation of Pastry Chefs with his highly acclaimed masterclasses.
