Why we chose Dubai

Flavel Monteiro, a Dubai based award winning author, released his e-book, The best of Dubai: A dining experience on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. The book pays homage to an exclusive list of 34 Chefs, la crème de la crème, who contributed 75 free to access recipes.
The e-book includes an introduction on the Emirate, detailed Chef profiles, and then of course the recipes, structured into sections: Emirati cuisine, Vegetarian, Fish & Seafood, Meat and Dessert and Pastry. The quality
of the production is irreproachable, beautiful dynamic imagery and impeccable easy to follow storytelling.
It is important to note that what made this book possible first and foremost is the location: Long claiming the title of the jewel of the middle east, Dubai is a touristic powerhouse that boasts the most prestigious hotels in the world, the most exclusive restaurants, and de facto, the most sought after Chefs. Chefs like Reif Othman, Gregoire Berger and Colin Clague, who have each left their mark on the culinary scene in their respective restaurants, with incredible creativity and undaunted flair.

A melting pot of cultures, with the countless nationalities of expats that populate it, Dubai’s gastronomic scene is unparalleled in the world, incredibly diverse but somehow unwaveringly authentic.
Dubai also happens to be the perfect ground for food tech startups to experiment, a fertile sandbox that offers countless benefits to ambitious young companies, with multiple incubators, a diverse talent pool, and a mature VC scene that makes growth capital fairly accessible.
The aforementioned is what drew us to choose Dubai as the launchpad for Meelz, a base of operations to grow regionally in the near term and globally in the not so distant future.
